The Publishing House “Terevinf”
was established in 1994 as a department of the Center of
Curative Pedagogics (Moscow) and since year 2000 operates as an
independent charity organization. Our friends from German
initiative group “Iwanuschka”,
with whom we continue to keep close relations in the present,
made their considerable contribution in the making of our
Publishing House. Our publications are devoted
to two major trends:
curative pedagogics on the one hand and religion and history
on the other (though some of our publications go beyond
this scope). All
of them have one thing in common — they are of high significance
in corresponding social, professional or other aspects of human
life.
• Curative Pedagogics
Some of our
books were edited and prepared for being published on our own
initiative while the rest were ordered by various publishing
houses, organizations and individuals. Thus the Center of Medical Pedagogics (Moscow)
remains our main partner — we execute the whole range of publishing projects of this charity
organization which offers medical help to children with mental and
speech disorders. This cooperation results in a book series called
“Exceptional Child” (“Osoby Rebyonok”) and periodical compilation “Exceptional
Child. Research and Treatment Experience”
“Osoby Rebyonok. Issledovaniya i opyt pomoshchi” in particular.
Outstanding home and foreign specialists in psychology,
pedagogics and medicine are among the authors whose works are
published by us.
• Religion and History
Religion and History trend of our publishing
activity is represented foremost by the works of the remarkable modern theologian, poet, translator
and intercultural relations expert D. V. Shchedrovitski. His multivolume “The Introduction to the Old
Testament” (“Vvedeniye
v Vetkhi Zavet”) constitutes the basis for our publishing program on
religion. The
first compilation of lyrics by D.V.Shchedrovitsky was also brought
out by our Publishing House. Further development of religion and
history trend is associated with the launching of “Alef and
Alpha” book series which is being prepared right now. The series
is to be devoted to the problems of the common origin and
further coexistence of Judaism and Christianity, mutual impact
of cultural systems produced by the two world religions.
• Why “Terevinf”?
...“Terevinf” (eng.: 'terebinth')
— a towering tree with thick foliage which is mentioned several
times in the Bible as a symbol of perpetually renewing life (Isa. 6:13). We believe our Publishing House would eventually gain “the power of terebinth” and its activity
would help our readers to develop and renew the innermost being.
